The Easter Eggstravaganza, took place on Good Friday between 2 and 4pm in Calverley Grounds, marking the start of the Calverley Adventure Grounds fundraising campaign.
With the sun shining, the bunting strung and the cake stall tables groaning under the weight of all the home baked goodies well over 1,500 people came to hang an egg on the Easter Tree and to celebrate the launch of Calverley Adventure Grounds’ fundraising campaign.
Activities included the opportunity to have a photo taken with the Easter Bunny, Egg and Spoon Race, craft tables run by the fabulous Red Balloon Crafts and Freckles and Fire, an Easter story read by professional story teller Alexis Stones, face painting, a bouncy castle, skittles, lucky dip, lolly dip, hook a duck and a raffle.
The event ended with some traditional egg rolling on the hill, signifying the re birth of the former Bowling Green in Calverley Grounds. However those taking part were delighted that they were not rolling the traditional hard boiled eggs but Cadbury’s cream eggs which has so very generously been donated by Sainsburys.
Huge thanks must go to the team who worked relentlessly in the weeks up to the event to make it such a memorable one, the 50 volunteers that assisted on the day who kept their calm and worked like troopers and to all those that whipped up some delectable treats for the cake stall.
