Although Calverley Adventure Grounds Fundraising campaign is not officially launched, the Rotary Club of Tunbridge Wells held a wine tasting evening in aid of the campaign on Friday evening, ahead of the official launch on Monday.
The event took place at King Charles the Martyr Church Hall, and was a sell out with the fundraising committee taking 17 of the 70 places available.
The evening was hosted by David Reich who talked through the wines that accompanied the fabulous meal prepared by Rotary Club members. However guests were not encouraged to spit out their wine but to savour it instead. Attendees were treated to some pre dinner nibbles, served alongside prosecco and champagne before tucking into a most delicious main course of pesto chicken, cheesy dumplings garlic bread and a green salad. A selection of cheeses followed and finally a choice of nine desserts were served. Guests were generously encouraged to sample all. The wine flowed throughout the night with David talking through each one at intervals during the evening.
The wines sampled were

Kate Bourne and Nathalie Bere were invited to speak on behalf of the Calverley Adventure Grounds and were delighted to share Jennette Emery-Wallis’s design. It was wonderful to receive such enthusiastic response from the Rotary Club members who were as excited by the inspirational design as the Calverley Grounds Fundraising team are.
The evening ended with the drawing of the raffle.
We could not have wished for a more fabulous start to our fundraising campaign and would like to thank those that worked so hard to make the event such a special one and to The Rotary Club members for all their support and assistance over the last 8 weeks.
